Dear SVH Blog Readers,
Sacred Valley Health has had a tremendous second year, and we are grateful to many of you for supporting our work. We are reaching out now to raise money to sustain our programs and expand our reach in 2014. Our goals include:
- Grow our community health worker (promotora) program by adding 7 more communities. This means we will reach a total of 22 rural communities in the Sacred Valley by December of next year.
- Expand our school health campaigns, providing all children with multivitamins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and health education on a regular basis.
- Focus more hours of promotora training on maternal and newborn health, which are areas of concern in our communities.
As readers of SVH’s blog, you know that our communities face geographic isolation, severely limited access to health care, and school education that does not address crucial topics like hygiene and reproductive anatomy. Since we launched our community health worker training program in 2012, our promotoras have become their communities’ primary link to the government health system and main resource for health-related information.
Please join us in providing much-needed health education and empowering promotoras to be agents of change within their communities. We are thrilled that the Hope for Poor Children Foundation has offered to match every donation made between now and December 31 up to $15,000. Please take this opportunity to double the impact of your gift.
You can donate online or send a check to Sacred Valley Health, c/o Emily Groves, 214 Summit Ave. E #201, Seattle, WA 98102.
On behalf of everyone at Sacred Valley Health, we thank you for your support and wish you a happy holiday season!
